Vintage GDA Limoges Prince George Hotel New York Porcelain Candle Holder
Vintage GDA Limoges candle holder with Princess George Hotel New York decoration. Marks date this from 1901 - 1941. Candle not included.
The Prince George Hotel was designed by Howard Greenley and built in 1904 on 28th street between 5th Avenue and Madison. It operated until it fell on hard times in the 1970's. The hotel became controversial as it was turned into a welfare hotel in the 1980s and due to a string of crimes was soon deemed “hell’s embassy in Manhattan.” The hotel was abandoned and in the 1990's the non-profit organization Common Ground Community updated the building and converted it to low-income and special needs housing. This piece is truly a piece of history.
