Vintage set of 4 Copeland Spode Ida Noyes Hall, University of Chicago black and white transferware dinner plates. The edges of the plate are scalloped and around the center are images of Gothic arches and vignettes from the University of Chicago. The plates were produced in a limited edition in 1931 in "soft grey" and featured buildings with Gothic architecture from around the campus.

Ida Noyes (1853-1912) was a well-traveled photographer, artist, and philanthropist. According to the University of Chicago website, in 1915 LaVerne Noyes donated funds for the construction of a building to honor his late wife, Ida. Ida Noyes was initially constructed as a place for women to dine and swim, as well as a space that inculcated “tolerance, sympathy, kindness, the generous word, and the helpful act,” according to dean of women Marion Talbot.
