Miss Shuttle-Cock hand colored print by Matthew Darly. Published December 6, 1776 in England. Print features a game of shuttlecock between two men who face each other, standing at opposite sides of the scene, each with a raised battledore. The lady wears such a gigantic wig adorned with feathers that she resembles a shuttlecock. This type of print was primarily a source of amusement to the public of the time, now giving a fascinating insight into what was an increasingly fashion conscious society and its obsession with vanity.
