1930s "Down Along, Clovelly, N. Devon" Watercolor Signed W. Sands (Thomas Henry Victor)
Charming and cheerful watercolor of the picturesque North Devon village of Clovelly, England signed by the artist W. Sands. This colorful piece depicts a village street views with the steep decline leading to the harbor.
This fine piece of art is actually the work of the Cornish artist Thomas Herbert Victor (1894-1980). He signed paintings under the W. Sands pseudonym in order to overcome a contractual agreement with the Morrab Gallery. His work was deemed good enough to be offered a scholarship at the Slade College of Art, but he remained in Cornwall. He specialized in pretty and warm local scenes.

Cancellations
