1940s Edward Wormley Riemerschmid Walnut Armchair
Period 1940's Edward Wormley for Dunbar Riemerschmid armchair.
Many of Wormley’s signature pieces are modern interpretations of traditional forms. His 1946 Riemerschmid Chair (in the collection at the Museum of Modern Art) captures the essence of a late 19th-century German design.
This chair features spectacular lines, solid walnut frame with beautiful grain and original wool fabric. Double curving back and arms are special and difficult to construct on hardwood. This rare single chair is not a re-interpretation such as those 'available in multiple colors and finishes'. This chair was recently acquired from a prominent estate in Illinois along with the Janus sofa / daybed (also Edward Wormley).
