Vintage ceramic lemon topiary estimated to be made in the 1940's (possibly prior). Beautiful color, detail, and in excellent vintage condition. Sticker on bottom reads 'Made in Italy for J.W. Co New York'. Also hand-marked on bottom by artist, similar to the marks of Italian pottery designers Bitossi (Raymor) and Aldo Londi.

John Wanamaker & Company was the first major retail department store in Philadelphia and imported goods for its customers. In the late 1890's JW & Co opened the first of two retail stores in New York City. They closed their doors in the 1950's.
