Rare vintage 1950's Paden City Pottery bread plates with atomic Calligraphy pattern designed by Anton Refregier. Set includes 10 bread plates.
Anton Refregier was an American painter and nationally renowned muralist. His most popular work was "The History of California" mural located in the Rincon Center, in downtown San Francisco, California. It depicts the state's history across 27 panels that he painted from 1940 to 1948. He was a Russian immigrant to the United States in the 1920s. Damage or Points of Notice: Overall excellent vintage condition appropriate with age and little to no use. Appears unused. One small chip along rim of one plate and one chip along underside of another plate (please see photos). We noted 3 very tiny maker flaws (single kiln deposit on 2, small dot of color on another). These are very small and minor, but noted. Overglaze decoration.
